The Kansas Department of Transportation has greenlighted the long-delayed Highway 7 project.

According to State Rep. Doug Gatewood, (D-Columbus), Governor Sam Brownback was set to announce the $33 million project at a press conference today in Fort Scott.

The project will include widening the highway and adding shoulders. Gatewood said it had been listed as the No. 1 priority for six towns and Cherokee County in KDOT surveys.
