Columbus firefighters battled a pair of blazes in the northern part of Cherokee County late Thursday afternoon.

One fire started as a controlled burn of a brush pile before spreading to a couple of trailer houses and a camper which were being used for storage, as well as a car. None of the structures were occupied.

The second fire, on NW 20th not far from Corona, started as a controled burn which got away from the landowner when the fire spread into some dried honeysuckle.

More details as they become available.
