Chelsea Hicks, 8 is working with her Christian Church to raise money for blankets for Haitian earthquake refugees.

The Christian Church of Columbus, in conjunction with Church World Service is sponsoring “Blanket Sunday,” taking donations for $5 to cover each blanket  provided and shipped to Haiti.

“It’s a good cause,” said Hicks.

Helping with the effort is Mom, Joanie Hicks.

“We will have collection points at the church and also the treasurer’s office in the Cherokee County Courthouse. So far Chelsea has raised $60 for 12 blankets.”

Church World Service is working closely with the Haitian crisis. They have provided blankets and aid to impoverished communities all around the world.

“The church will have blanket Sunday again on Jan 31,” said Joanie Hicks. “It was successful this past Sunday.”
