The investigation continues into the death of 19-year-old Brittney Fox of Coffeyville, and while no new details are forthcoming, Cherokee county Sheriff David Groves said it is progressing.
He would not speculate on a time frame for an arrest but said there was a briefing at 9 a.m. this morning and he anticipated another this afternoon.
“The Tristate Major Case Squad is still activated,” he said. “We’re in Coffeyville this morning as well as in other areas and we’ll probably have another briefing later today.
“At that time there may or may not be more to release.”
A passing driver spotted Fox’s body late Tuesday morning on Bagdad Road, east of the junction of U.S. Highway 166 and Kansas Highway 26, which is near the state borders with Missouri and Oklahoma.
A preliminary autopsy has reportedly been completed but the cause of death and other details have not been released.
