LETTER TO THE EDITOR

Dear Readers

I have always made it a practice of mine to not react until I have had time to sleep on the

Situation and then react. Well I am not doing it this time. I am so upset that I need to write this note so everyone will know what just happened.

The Chamber of Commerce has advertised that we were sponsoring a program at

The Community Building this evening March 29,2012 to Meet The Candidates

for City Council of Columbus. The Chamber of Commerce invited ALL of the

Candidates, For Ward 1 Joyce Begando and Dale Burton, for Ward 2 Nick Lucian, and David Morrison.for Ward 3 Gary Smith, for Ward 4 Barbara Capron and for Ward 5 Doug Hosier. Barbara Capron called before the date of the meeting and could not attend. This happens and we understand. Gary Smith was the only candidate to show up for

the event.

This was very disappointing and I am very very upset and embarrassed because the

Chamber of Commerce did this as a service to the Community so we as voting

Citizens of The City of Columbus could listen to the candidates as they answered

questions we as citizens furnished to these candidates to answer and we could make

up our mind which candidate could best represent us on the City Council and we

could vote accordingly.

There were concerned people in attendance who showed up an the time announced

and took notice that only the candidate from ward 3 was there and Ward 4 candidate

had told the Chamber she was going to be unable to attend.

The following candidates either do not care or do not know how to represent the people

of Columbus on the City Council

Ward 1 Joyce Begando and Dale Burton

Ward 2 Nick Lucian and David Morrison

Ward 5 Doug Hosier.

Is it a case of suffering from ignorance and apathy? ( I Donít Know and I Donít Care)

If I lived in any of the Wards 1, 2, or 5 I would not vote for any of these candidates

But would write in the name of someone who cares enough to represent the voters

of their Ward. I will be able to vote with the confidence that my representative at

least advised the Chamber that she could not attend.

After the meeting I heard comments such as If the businesses in Columbus are not

offended by this show of total lack of caring then they should not have decided to run

for the office.

I APOLOGIZE TO THE CITIZENS WHO DID ATTEND AND CARE ABOUT THE

FUTURE OF COLUMBUS. I JUST WISH THE CANDIDATES CARED AS MUCH.

Mel Greene President of The Columbus Chamber of Commerce
