COLUMBUS -- Columbus residents will have to wait a little while for their Route 44 cherry limeades after a wreck shut down the store Friday.
At just before 3 p.m. Friday Monty Harrenstein, 22, was pulling into a stall at the drive-in when he told police he hit the gas pedal instead of the brake on the 2001 Chevy Tahoe SUV he was driving.
The SUV leapt the curb and slammed into the side of the building, knocking the deep-fat fryers loose and caving in the side of the wall.
Sonic owner Bob Roche said fortunately no one was using the fryers at the time and no one was injured.
Rouche said they do not know when they will reopen, or when repairs will be complete.
"We're waiting on our insurance to let us know," he said.
