WEIR — A three vehicle accident sent two people to the hospital with minor injuries Friday evening.

According to a Cherokee County Sheriff’s Department report at about 6:30 p.m. Terry Proffit, Columbus, who was driving a 2004 Dodge, was stopped behind another vehicle facing north on Highway 69 near Coal Valley road. and Kenneth Jones, of Columbus was slowing down behind him in a 2011 Toyota Highlander when a 2011 Chevy Suburban driven by Allyson Dodds, of Kansas City, Kan., slammed into the back of Jones’ vehicle pushing it into the back of Proffit’s vehicle.

Barbra Jones, who was a passenger in Kenneth Jones’ vehicle was transported by ambulance to Maude Norton Memorial Hospital where she was treated and released.

Dodds was taken by ambulance to Via Christi Medical Center in Pittsburg where she was treated and released.

Sue Proffit and Tucker and Dacy Piney, who were passengers in Terry Proffit’s vehicle were not injured. All drivers and passengers were wearing seatbelts.
