March is designated by the Music Educator’s National Conference as "Music In Our Schools Month".

 The Columbus Tri-M Chapter of MENC will be sponsoring several events in to celebrate Music In Our Schools. 

 The first event to kick off the MIOSM celebration will be “Late Night Jazz” on Thursday, March 5 at 6:30 p.m. at the Maple UnCommon Hotel.  The CUHS Jazz Band will play jazz selections and the art work of CUHS art student Carley Hill will be on exhibit as well.  The come and go event is open to the public.

Thursday, March 12 the Columbus USD 493 Music Department will host a concert at 7 p.m. in the CUHS auditorium.

 Performing at the event will be the CUHS Concert & Jazz Band, Central Sixth Grade and Central Junior High Band all conducted by Gae Phillips.  Special guests will include the Heartland Community Band conducted by Vicki Mays.  The public is invited to the event.

Concluding the month long celebration will be a performance by Todd Hastings, PSU Professor of Trumptet, and the Crowder Jazz Orchestra on Tuesday, March 31 in the CUHS auditorium.  The group plays big band style jazz and performs all over the four state area.
