COLUMBUS — An area man accused of molesting a teenage girl pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated indecent liberties with a child between the ages of 14 and 16 Wednesday.
Aubrey J. Verren made the plea as part of a deal which dismissed two additional charges — two counts of interference with parental custody. The victim was in foster care at the time of the crime.
Verren was arrested in August of 2011 along with two co-defendants who have already taken plea deals.
Verren was set for a preliminary hearing early this year but fired his attorney, Gene Barrett at the last minute.
According to Assistant County Attorney John Gutierrez, depending on his criminal history score, Verren is facing approximately 66 months in prison.
Sentencing is set for 10 a.m. April 9, in the Cherokee County Courthouse in Columbus.
