Central Elementary and Junior High School’s media center was abuzz with activity Thursday, as students kicked off the annual Scholastic “buy one, get one free,” book fair.

According to Kim Carpino, library media specialist, approximately 200 students will come through the media center this week either to browse or purchase items at the book fair.

The books, all published by Scholastic, range from picture books for preschoolers to cookbooks for parents.

In addition to reading material, the fair also offers jewelry, novelty school supplies and even some video games.

Carpino said some of the more popular books are “Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Hunger Games, Dork Diaries and 39 Clues.”

She also said the school will purchase some books for library use.

The book fair will continue until 3 p.m. April 6.
