A rural Baxter Springs woman was arrested last week on arson and child endangerment charges.
At about 2 a.m. June 22, Cherokee County Sheriff’s Department deputies the Baxter Springs Fire Department and Cherokee County EMA responded to a fire at 100510 Southeast 20th.
According to Cherokee County Undersheriff Terry Clugston after investigation deputies arrested the resident, Anna Wisdom on four counts of aggravated arson, and three counts of child endangerment.
Aggravated arson is defined as arson of an occupied dwelling.
There were three children allegedly in the home at the time of the fire, two belonging to Wisdom and one Clugston identified as a relative. All three were taken into protective custody.
Clugston said he had no motive for the alleged arson but said the incident was still under investigation.
Wisdom was taken to the Cherokee County Jail where she was released on $10,000 bond.
