Winter blasted in again Saturday night with 3-4 inches of new snow and bitterly cold temperatures.
Cherokee County Sheriff David Groves said from Dec. 31 through midnight Monday there had been only five non-injury accidents on county roads.
National Weather Service Meteorologist Eric Wise said the cold weather pattern should continue for the next 10 days or so, with another 1-4 inches of snow possible Wednesday night.
“So far (this winter) it’s been pretty cold,” he said. “That’s the pattern we’ll be in for the next 10 days.
“It’s hard to say if it will continue all winter.”
Lows are expected to be below zero by Friday and highs only in the single digits, with dangerous wind chill factors, so residents are encouraged to bundle up and stay indoors as much as possible.
City and county crews have been out clearing the latest snow since Saturday.
