Ray E. Adamson, 81, Kansas City, Mo., formerly of Columbus died September 28, 2009 at his home with immediate family members at his side.

Ray was born to Ernest and Lavon (Slover) Adamson on April 11, 1928 in Columbus.

He attended Columbus schools and joined the U.S. Navy after high school. He married Janell Apple on April 7,1956. She survives. They made their home in Kansas City, Mo. where he worked for Armco Steel 40 years retiring in 1989. They enjoyed traveling abroad and took many cruises after his retirement.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Norman and three sisters Peggy, Wilma and Aileen.

Survivors include three sons, Tony of Dallas, Texas, Tim of Calif. and Troy of Kansas City; one daughter, Tammy of Springfield, Mo.; two sisters, Marcia Mathes and Margie Higginbotham both of Columbus, seven grandchildren and one great grandson and several nieces and nephews.

Private graveside services were Thursday, October 1 at Mount Moriah Cemetary under the direction of Park Lawn Funeral Home in Kansas City.
