Goldie L. Penrod, 89, of Columbus passed away December 31, 2009 at her home.
Goldie was born April 16, 1920 in Columbus, Kan., to Harry and Jane Newberry. She married Jimmie Penrod in March, 1942.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1957 and has made Columbus her home since that time. She was also predeceased by an infant son, Jimmie Lee Penrod; three brothers, George, Dale and Bernard Newberry; and two sisters, Irene Shelton Reynolds and Etta Griffis.
Goldie is survived by a son, Don Penrod and wife Linda of Pryor, Okla.; one grandson, Jeffrey Penrod and wife Margaret of Englewood, Colo.; and one brother, Clyde Newberry of Pittsburg, Kan.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Murdock Chapel with Pastor Warren Stanton of the Columbus First Baptist Church officiating.
Interment will follow in Hosey Hill Cemetery in Weir, Kan. Visitation was Monday from 1 p.m. until service time. Memorials may be made to St. Johnís Hospice with the Murdock Funeral Home, 132 E. Pine, Columbus, KS 66725 serving as custodian.
