Carl Gene Hart, age 72, passed away at 3:25 p.m., Saturday, March 3, 2012 at his home following an illness.
Mr. Hart was born October 1, 1939 in Columbus, Kan. His parents were Carl and Fern (Walker) Hart. He had lived in the Columbus area most of his life.
He graduated from Columbus High School in 1957. He had worked at several jobs, but was most proud of working at the Warner’s Ranch, Cimarron, Kan. and hauling freight as a truck driver until his retirement in 2008. He was most proud of being a farmer and raising horses. His hobby was collecting.
He was first married to Pamela Ann Walker on March 30, 1959 in Miami, Okla. She passed away June 26, 1976. Also preceding him in death was his father, one daughter, Jean Ann Holiday, and one granddaughter, Kaitin Holt.
He married Ella Louise (Siders) Holt on November 13, 1980 in Miami, Okla. She survives.
Additional survivors include five sons, Dale Hart and wife, Daunna, Carl Junction, Mo., Todd Allen Hart and wife, Tresa, Columbus, Kan., Gerald Wayne Holt, Columbus, Kan., Gregg Holt and wife, Lori, Columbus, Kan., and Gale Wyatt Holt, Columbus, Kan.; two sisters, Sue Nell Moore and husband Tub, Columbus, Kan., and Mary Ann Morgan and Mike Crossland, Prosper, Texas; 10 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 1 pm, Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at Park Cemetery, Columbus, Kan. Pastor Dennis Johnson will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Derfelt Funeral Home, Columbus, Kan.
The family plans to gather at T & S RV Park, Columbus, Kan. for a time of food and fellowship following the service.
