Manford Jesse Stone 91, of Columbus, Kan. died 1pm Wednesday January 4, 2012 at his home following an illness.

Manford was born January 26, 1920 in Ozark, Mo. the son of David and Mae Forgey Stone. Manford lived in Columbus most all his life.

On March 13, 1963 he married Bonnie Tillman in Columbus, Kan.; she survives at the home. Manford worked for the Cherokee County Highway Department for 30 years as well as a farmer all his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Betty Nell and Marianne Larson; brothers, David (Dude) Stone, Jack Stone, Lemmie Stone, Ellis Stone and Ray Stone.

Survivors include his wife; sons, Steve Stone and wife Kim of Oswego, Kan., Scott Stone of Columbus, Kan. and Jack Gearhart of Columbus, Kan.; grandson, Travis Gearhart and wife Michelle and a granddaughter Autumn Stone; sisters, Judy Gleason of Columbus, Kan. and Billie June Robinson of Parsons, Kan. and his loving dog Sam.

Funeral Services will be 10 a.m. Monday January 9, 2012 at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Columbus, Kan. with Rev. Dennis Johnson and Chaplain Jeff D. Martin officiating. Burial will follow at the Columbus City Cemetery in Columbus, Kan. Family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Sunday January 8, 2012 at the funeral home; friends may call after 1 p.m. Sunday.
