Alta F. Parker age 88, of Baxter Springs, Kansas passed away, Saturday, December 31, 2011 at the Quaker Hill Manor in Lowell, Kansas. She was born on January 26, 1923 in Quapaw, Oklahoma the daughter of Edward King & Effie (DuRee) Parker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Edward, 1 son, Ed “Sonny” Parker, 5 brothers and 1 sister.

She is survived by 3 sons, Joe David Parker and his wife, Carolyn of Wyandotte, Oklahoma, Dennis Parker and his wife, Kathy of Baxter Springs, Kansas and Roger Parker of Longview, Texas. Also surviving is 1 brother, Doc DuRee of Wichita, Kansas and 1 sister, Rose Brown of Miami, Oklahoma, 16 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and many friends.

Funeral services for Alta F. Parker will be held 2 p.m., Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home, Miami with Steve Fellers, officiating. Interments will be in the G.A.R. Cemetery, Miami. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Dennis Parker II, Dustin Parker, Joe Parker II, Chris Parker, Josh Parker and Kavin Parker. Honorary pallbearer will Tom Dyson.
