Doris Byler Osborn, passed from this life on Saturday, January 16, 2010 in Houston, Texas, where she had lived since 1976.

Doris was born into the union of Ben and Ida Anne Doyle Byler on July 27, 1937 at Barnsdoll, Okla.

As a young girl she lived at 5th and Grant in Baxter Springs, Kan. and attended the Lincoln Elementary School.

She graduated in 1955, with honors from the Carl Junction High School, Carl Junction, Mo., where she had to walk a half mile to catch the bus those high school years.

After graduation she worked for Spencer Chemical Co., Riverton, Kan., where she met her husband. Doris married Myron David Osborn on June 16, 1957 at the First United Methodist Church in Baxter Springs. She was an Avon representative for many years in the Houston area.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Lillian Helton, and Elaine Ytell.

She is survived by her husband of the home; one son, Ronald Dwight Osborn and wife Linda; one daughter, Deborah Ann Cleaver and husband Price all of Houston, Texas; two grandson, Matt Cleaver and wife Alicia of Cedar Hill, Texas, and Drew Cleaver of Houston; brother-in-law, Wayne Ytell of Carthage, Mo., John Osborn and wife Ottilie of Riverton, Kan.; sister in law, Martha Osborn Stange of Wichita, Kan., Mary Osborn Jaeger and husband Wallace, Rachel Osborn Wilson and husband C.W. of Columbus, Kan.; several cousins; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Thursday, January 21, 2010 at Derfelts Baxter Chapel. Burial followed in the Baxter Springs Cemetery. Family received friends Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Matt Cleaver officiated the services. He is the director of Youth and Ministry Development at Hope Lutheran Church, Cedar Hill, Texas. Music will be provided by Mrs. Ruth Dorsey. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Doris Byler Osborn Memorial Scholarship fund to the Riverton High School Alumni association, P.O. Box 177, Riverton, KS. 66770. Arrangements are under the direction of Derfelts Baxter Chapel, Baxter Springs, Kan.
