Kenneth Ambrose York, 91, Baxter Springs, died Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at St. John’s Regional Medical Center.

Kenneth was born December 7, 1917 in Baxter Springs to the union of Chauncie Joshua and Mabel Ida (Foley) York. He was united in marriage June 10, 1974 in Miami, Okla. to Adaline Maude (Smith).

Kenneth was a part of the United States Army and fought in WWII. He worked for Empire District Electric Company as an electrician retiring in 1982.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Chauncie and Mabel York; his wife, Adaline York; two brothers, Francis York, and Charlie York; two sisters, Ethelreda Shouse, and Betty Jo Stockwell.

He is survived by two brothers, Chauncie “Gene” York and wife Lora Lee of Baxter Springs, and Chester James York and wife Wynell of Waldrens, As; one sister, Annarita Delmont of Quapaw, Okla; along with several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, August 31 at Columbus City Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to noon, Monday at Derfelts Baxter Chapel. Online condolences may be expressed at www.derfeltsbaxterchapel.com.
