Marjorie Brown, age 88, of Richmond, Kan., formerly of Ottawa, died Sunday, June 5, 2011, at Richmond Care Center in Richmond, Kan. She was born on Thursday, February 8, 1923, in Columbus, Kan., the daughter of Marion “Pete” and Minnie (Laizure) Amos.

She graduated from Columbus (Kansas) High School with the class of 1941.

In April of 1946, Marjorie was united in marriage with Bill Brown in Joplin, Mo. He preceded her in death in July of 1996.

Marjorie moved from Columbus to Orange, Texas in 1969; retired to Springdale, Ark. In 1982, and moved to Ottawa, Kan. in 2001.

Marjorie was a homemaker. She was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening.

She was a member of First Methodist Church and Eastern Star, both in Columbus, Kan.

She is preceded in death by, husband, Bill Brown; parents, Marion “Pete” and Minnie Amos; daughter, Janet Brown Markivee; two sisters, Frances Laughlin and Helen Diacon.

Survivors include a son, Steven Brown and his wife, Cathy, of Ottawa, Kan.; brother, Charles Amos and his wife, Dorothy, of Columbus, Kan.; brother, Robert “Gene” Amos of Yakima, Washington; sister, Joan Holland of Joplin, Mo.; grandchildren, Mitchel Brown and his wife, Dawn, of Lenexa, Kan., Stephanie Brown of Olathe, Kan., Sarah Brown Knudsen and her husband, Monte, of Olathe, Kan.; and five great grandchildren.

Mrs. Brown has been cremated. Private family services will be held at a later date at Oak Hill Cemetery in Galena, Kan.
