Marvin R. Correll of Columbus, Kan. passed away February 9, 2012 at Landmark Hospital in Joplin, Mo.
Marvin was born on January 17, 1928 in Neutral, Kan. he was the son of Clyde and Hester (Schultz) Correll Fulkerson. Marvin graduated from Cherokee County Community High School in 1945.
Marvin and Opal Harwood were married April 15, 1950 at Bentonville, Ark. She survives of the home. Marvin served in the US Navy from 1946-1948 and worked at BF Goodrich in Miami, Okla. for 35 years retiring in 1986. He participated in field trails and rodeo’s and enjoyed hunting, gardening and keeping his yard well groomed.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, CoNorma Roark, one brother, Clyde Correll and one great grand daughter, Katelynn Holt.
He is survived by his wife Opal of 61 years, three daughters, Carla and husband Bob Johnson of Sierra Vista, Ariz., Linda and husband Leo Evans of Columbus, Kan., and Marta and husband Bob Shanks of Columbus, Kan., one son; Jim Bob Correll and wife Tomie of Elbert, Colo., and brother in law Lester Roark of Columbus, Kan. The couple has seven grandchildren, Eric Tinney, Kristi Davis, Bobbi Ann Shanks, Danielle Correll, Marty Shanks, Jessica Correll, and Madison Correll, and two great grand daughters Jaylyn and Kodi Jo Davis.
Funeral services will be held Monday, February 13, 2012, 10 a.m. at Derfelt Funeral Home of Columbus with Dennis Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday afternoon 2:00-4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
