Doris A Holland, age 93, died at 10:10 p.m., Thursday, January 19, 2012 at Medicalodge, Columbus, Kan. following an illness.

Mrs. Holland was born November 15, 1918 near Crestline, Kan. Her parents were Stacy B and Ethel (Mayhood) Robison. She had lived in the Columbus, Kan. area all of her life.

She began working for the Columbus Telephone Company in 1943, retiring after 23 years as Assistant Chief Operator. She also worked on the family farm for several years.

She was a member of First Christian Church, Columbus, Kan. and was a life member of the Eastern Star, Columbus, Kan. Among her interests was sewing, cooking, gardening, and spending time with her family.

Doris was married to James F. Holland on June 11, 1948 in Bentonville, Ark. He passed away July 3, 2003.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Vern, Purl, Stacy, Glenn and Bob; and one sister, Fern Smith.

Surviving is one brother, Murl Robison, Hallowell, Kan.; two sisters, Ruby DeHart, Joplin, Mo. and Lois (and husband, Harlan) Crain, Pittsburg, Kan.; and several nieces and nephews including her caregivers, Joyce Parsons, Scammon, Kan. and Bud Robison, Columbus, Kan.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at Derfelt Funeral Home, Columbus, Kan.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at Derfelt Funeral Home, Columbus, Kan. Pastor Dennis Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in Columbus City Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Medicalodge Activity Fund or First Christian Church, Columbus, Kan.
