Warren C. “Bear Tracks” Hayes, 64, died at 6:10 a.m., Monday, August 31, 2009 following an illness.

Bear Tracks was born December 26, 1944 on Old Route 66, rural Joplin, Mo.  His parents were William Harvey and Erma (Ludwig) Hayes.  He was a lifetime area resident.

He was a machinist.  He had also worked in the vending business and was a heavy equipment operator.  Among his interests were camping, fishing, and family activities.

He attended Camp Joy Ministries, Joplin, Mo.

Warren was married to Linda Jeanne Shira on January 24, 1970 in Miami, Okla.  She died January 3, 1987.  Also preceding him in death were two brothers, Melvin Hayes and Delno Hayes.

Surviving is one son, Rob Dalton (wife, Kristy), Diamond, Mo.; one daughter, Angie Carrier (husband, Bill), Joplin, Mo.; five grandchildren, Brandon Dalton, Jimmy Garrett Ill, Shea Dalton, Emma Dalton, and Sean Dalton; two great-grandchildren; three brothers, Bud Hayes, Mullen Idaho, Bernard Hayes, Kansas City, Mo., and Eugene Hayes, Overland Park; and one sister, Mildred Hart, Stillwater, Okla.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, September 3, at Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena,. Pastor Jeff. D. Martin will officiate.  Burial will be in Carl Junction, Mo.  Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, September 2, at Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena.
