Rose L. Whetzel, 93 of Columbus, Kan. passed away Saturday, October 20, 2012, at Medicalodge South of Columbus.

She was born January 8, 1919 in Carona, Kan., the daughter of Frank and Mary (Casciaro) Petramalo. Rose lived in Parsons, Kan. then moved to Houston, Texas for many years before coming back to the southeast Kansas area.

She married Jim Dixon in the early 40ís, He preceded her in death in 1966. She then remarried in 1970 to John Whetzel, he preceded her in death in 2003.

Rose worked for the Parson Ammunition Plant and Brodericks sewing factory for many years.

She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Columbus.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents and four sisters, Mary Florio, Jane Smith, Angie Prichard, and Evelyn Konek.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, October23, 2012 at Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Weir with Father Chrysostom Ah Maung as celebrant. Burial will follow at Memorial Lawn in Parsons.
