Hesston 35, Kingman 7

HESSTON — The Hesston Swathers won two in a row, stopping Kingman 35-7 Friday in CKL play in Hesston.

Zach Esau hit nine of 14 passes for 202 yards with two touchdowns and one interception. Esau added 89 yards rushing with a touchdown.

Parker Roth carried the ball 19 times for 116 yards and two touchdowns. Tanner Bachman and Reese Nebel each caught a touchdown pass.

Christopher Ontiveros scored for Kingman on a 59-yard run with 35 seconds left in the game to break the shutout.

Kingman falls to 3-3, 2-3 in CKL play. Hesston improves to 3-3, 3-2 in CKL play. The Swathers open district play Friday at home against Hillsboro.

SEDGWICK — The Sedgwick Cardinals opened district play with a 61-28 win over Medicine Lodge in Sedgwick.

Hooper Schroeder hit 13 of 20 passes for 205 yards and four touchdowns. Brayden Francis caught five passes for 102 yards and three touchdowns. Kale Schroeder rushed 11 times for 124 yards and a touchdown. Schroeder added a touchdown reception. Johnny Longbine added 60 yards rushing with two touchdowns.

Medicine Lodge was led by Garrett Burden, who rushed for two touchdowns. Dakota Bayliff rushed for a score and caught a touchdown pass.

Medicine Lodge falls to 0-6, 0-2 in district play.

Sedgwick improves to 4-2 overall and travels to Moundridge next week.

GOESSEL — Josh Schmidt ran up 316 all-purpose yards to lead Goessel to a 50-48 win over Ellinwood Friday in district play in Goessel.

Schmidt hit eight of 13 passes for 100 yards with three touchdowns and an interception. Schmidt rushed for 216 yards on 18 carries with two touchdowns. Miguel Guerrero added 86 yards on 12 carries with a touchdown.

Trevor Beisel had three catches for 38 yards and two scores. Jayce Schmidt had two catches for 22 yards and a score.

Goessel led 50-22 midway in the third quarter and held on for the win.

For Ellinwood, 1-5 overall and 0-2 in district play, Myles Menges hit 22 of 41 passes for 301 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. Destin Baker rushed for 52 yards on 12 carries with two touchdowns. Drew Blake added 11 carries for 29 yards with three touchdowns.

Peyton Duvall caught seven passes for 91 yards and a score. Tyson Martinez had five catches for 83 yards and a score.

Goessel is 4-2, 1-1 in district play, and plays Friday at St. John-Hudson.
