FRONTENAC — Last Friday the Galena Bulldogs faced off against the Frontenac Raiders.
The first quarter started with Galena kicking off to Frontenac. The Raiders scored a rushing touchdown with 6 minutes to go, failing the two point conversion, making the score leaving 6-0 Frontenac. It would be their only score of the game, as Galena would go on to win 31-6.
With under a minute in the first quarter the Bulldogs passed for a touchdown and rushed for a two point conversion, bringing the first half to an end with a score of 8-6 Bulldogs.?The second quarter was back and forth until 5 minutes to go when Galena picked up a defensive touchdown and made the two point conversion bringing the score to 16-6.
The third quarter was again back-and-forth with no change to the score, but the Bulldogs opened things up in the fourth.
With 8 minutes to go in the fourth quarter Galena punched it in with a rushing touchdown and made the two point conversion making the score 24-6. A little later in the fourth quarter, with 2 minutes to go, Galena punched in another touchdown on the ground the PAT was good leaving the score of 31-6.
Galena remained undefeated, improving to 3-0, while the Raiders ended the night with their third straight loss, falling to 0-3.
Galena Quarterback Nick Sivert, finished the game with 10 pass completions with 14 attempts for 160 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions for 50 yards. Casey Krei had 4 receptions for 112 yards.Tyler VanCleave had 3 receptions for 19 yards. Jacob Helton had 2 receptions for 25 yards. As a team the Bulldogs had 10 receptions for a total of 160 yards.
On the ground the Bulldogs had a total of 42 carries for 89 yards. VanCleave had 11 attempts for 16 yards. Sivert had 3 attempts for 2 yards total. Helton had 13 attempts for 12 yards. Trenton Little had 15 attempts for 61 yards.
Galena kicks off against Northeast at home for homecoming 7 p.m. Friday.
