CHEROKEE - The Baxter Springs Lady Lions dominated the Oswego Indians Friday night to claim third place at the 21st Southeast Lancer Classic, winning 64-49.

It didn't start out that way.

The game was tied 15-15 at the end of the first quarter and the Indians were ahead 30-24 at half time.

And then the wheels came off.

In the third quarter the Lady Lions opened up with a 20-9 period and pulled ahead 44-39.

In the fourth it was again all Baxter 20-10.

Nina Spence led scoring with 20 points on 6 field goals one trey and a 5-of-8 performance from the line. Ashleigh Grimes was also in double figures with 17 points on 3 field goals, 3 treys and was 2-of-3 from the line. Kelsey Karnes rounded out scoring for the Lady Lions with 12 on five field goals and was 2-of-4 from the line.

St. Paul had a slow start in the game, but came roaring back in the next three quarters to win decisively.

The Indians hit seven treys on the night and shot 53 percent (16 of 30) from the free throw line.
