CHEROKEE — The Columbus Lady Titan girls’ basketball team put the hurt on the Oswego Lady Indians Tuesday night with a 14-point victory which included a 19-3 first quarter. The final was 65-51. The Lady Titans are now 3-6.

Head coach Kenny Boeckman said he was pleased with the victory, despite the foul-plagued nature of the game.

“We jumped out on them early,” he said. “And then all of a sudden the fouls got out of control quick.

“We had more than 30 on our own.”

Boeckman said he had to pull off the full court press after three girls got in foul trouble but as Oswego used freethrows to crawl back into the game had to slap it back on.

Taylor Hamilton, Danielle Roberts and Jessica Anderson all fouled out.

Kate Overman and Danelle Crain led scoring with 17 points each and Anderson was also in double figures with 12.

Oswego had three players in double figures, Kinzie Nesbitt had 15 and Briclynn Johnson and Jessica Bates both had 10.

The Lady Titans faced Riverton last night at 7 p.m. Results were unavailable as of press time.
