The Columbus Unified High School Titan junior varsity football team recorded its second consecutive win, 14-6, at home Monday against Independence to improve its season record to 2-3.

After a nearly scoreless first half the young Titans scored on a 9-yard pass from sophomore quarterback Travis Jones to sophomore wide receiver Trent Martin with 1:52 remaining in the second quarter. The extra point conversion run by sophomore Tyler Elmore was no good leaving the Titans with a 6-0 lead.

The Titansí final score came midway through the fourth quarter on a 3-yard pass from Jones to sophomore wide receiver Dustin Morris. The extra point conversion pass from Jones to sophomore wide receiver Austin Qualls was good giving the Titans a 14-0 lead.

Independence scored with 2:23 remaining in the game on a 20-yard pass to sophomore wide receiver T. J. Reed. The extra point conversion run was no good leaving the score at 14-6.

Next action for the team will be Monday at Labette County with kickoff set for 5:00 p.m.
