Last Saturday the Titan wrestling team competed in the Augusta tournament. As a team we finished in sixth place out of 14 teams with a total of 122 points. Andover Central won the tournament with 193 points. Individually we had six out of 12 kids who placed in this tournament. Tank Burns won the tournament at heavyweight and was 3-0 on the day. Tank wrestled very well and he defeated a wrestler from Douglas who was a state runner-up last year 9 to 3 in the finals. Kyle Johnson wrestling at 130 also won the tournament and was 3-0 on the day. Kyle wrestled a good tournament and defeated the No. 3 ranked kid in 5A in the finals by a score of 7 to 2. BT O’Hara had a good tournament and was 3-1 on the day.
BT placed second in the tournament at 140 and lost in the finals in overtime on a very controversial call to Codie Bontz from Andover Central. David Lloyd wrestling at 215 and Zack Conway wrestling at 135 were 2-2 on the day and placed fourth in the tournament. Nathan Morris was 3-2 on the day and placed fifth in the tournament. Zack Mullere wrestling at 125, Aaron Napier wrestling at 145, Damion Tinnin wrestling at 152, and Brandon Alberty wrestling at 171 were all 1-2 on the day. Paul Morris and Boston Proffit also competed in the tournament this weekend.
The next competition for the Wrestling team will be a double dual against Parsons and Iola today in Parsons with the first match beginning at 5:30.
