CHANUTE — The Columbus Titans had another rough night of it Friday night, falling to the Chanute Blue Comets 41-7.
"Early on we didn't play very well," Titan Head Coach Dan Grundy said Tuesday. "Defensively we did better in the second half."
The points racked up early for Chanute, the Comets were up 20 to 0 at the end of the first quarter, and turnovers were a factor as well, inculding an interception and a fumbled punt.
The Titans only successful drive came early in the second quarter on a two-yard run by CJ Freeman — it was their first and only points of the game.
"We've just got to do a better job of competing," Grundy said. "We're pressing too much, trying to do too many things.
"We had a couple of players trying to do other people's jobs and letting things by. They've got to realize they can't individually win football games."
Injuries have been a major factor this year and the Titans were playing without both Dustin and Paul Morris and Gavin Houser was able to play only on defense Friday.
The Titans face the Iola Mustangs 7 p.m. Friday night at home for homecoming.
