The Columbus Lady Titan girls basketball team picked up it’s first win Tuesday night at home over the Field Kindley, of Coffeyville, High School Lady Golden Tornadoes 47-24.

The Lady Titans are now 1-5 on the season and 1-4 in league play.

Columbus took the lead early  in the first quarter and never surrendered it outscoring Coffeyville 16-3 in the first quarter and 15-3 in the second. Only in the third quarter did the Lady ‘Nadoes out score Columbus, and that only by one point, 11-10. By then however the damage was done, and the Lady Titans led by 24 at the end of the third. All 10 Titan players who saw action scored, although none in double digits.

Jordan Ivey and Haley Evans tied for top scorer with seven points each.

Katey Crane led scoring for Kindley with seven as well.

Head Coach Kenny Boeckman said he was pleased with the performance.

“Every player scored,” he said. “It is always good to have the points spread out.

“We had a great first half, the second half was good, but not great. We still have a lot of games to play and we still need to get better in certain areas of the game.”

The Columbus boys dropped another game Tuesday falling to 1-5 on the season and 0-5 in league play, falling to the Field Kindley boys 80-58.

Despite having three boys in double figures, Joel Holeman with 16 and Matt Crain and Taylor Spear with 10 each, the Titans were unable to overcome the 28 points put up by Coffeyville’s Cordray.

The Titans looked to make a game of it early, and were down by only three points at the end of the third quarter and tied up at the end of the half.

However, a 25-7 third put the nail in the Titan coffin and put the game out of reach.

Both boys and girls will be in action against Pittsburg tonight.
