What: 2009 Cherokee County American Cancer Society Relay for Life
When: Saturday, September 19 at 6 p.m. and Sunday, September 20, 2009 at 6 a.m.
Where: Columbus City Park
Come enjoy an evening of food, fun, and entertainment at the City Park!! The 2009 American Cancer Society Cherokee County Relay for Life will be held Saturday, September 19 from 6 p.m. until Sunday September 20 at 6 a.m.
Food available for purchase throughout the evening is Angelo’s Sandwiches, hot dogs, hamburgers, homemade ice cream, brownie sundae’s, popcorn, and other baked goods.
Boy Scouts are coming to do an opening flag ceremony. James Redden will be performing at 7 p.m. and the CUHS Jazz Band will be performing at 10:30. There will be line dancing at 12 a.m.
Other events throughout the evening include a silent auction, bingo, inflatables (armbands will be sold for unlimited jumping), and the St. John’s Maude Norton Mammogram Van will be available for tours.
Glow Sticks will be available for sale and Smores will be cooked early in the morning.
Silent Auction items that I have now: Columbus day shirt and bag; autographed photo of Kansas City Chiefs Wide Receiver Dwayne Bowe; 2009 Relay T-Shirt Quilt; pottery piece by Al Letner; basket by Park Teachers with theme “Relax and Enjoy” (games, bath & body stuff, etc); purse & candles, Relay Gear, etc.
The luminary ceremony will be held at 8:30 p.m. and will honor survivors and those who have lost their battle with cancer. All survivors are invited to attend and join in the survivor lap at the opening ceremonies.
