Roberta Gene Hammer, 65, formerly of Columbus, died at KU Med Center after a long illness.
Roberta was born the daughter of Robert E. and Patricia M. (Walker) Duvall on September 28, 1943.
She lived in Columbus until graduating from High School. She then moved to the Kansas CIty area where she met her husband, Merle E. Hammer of 45 years. They were married at the Presbyterian Church here in Columbus on June 23, 1963. He survives and resides at their home.
Roberta was very accomplished business woman. She worked in several offices, ran her own ceramic business and was also a seamstress, quilter and genealogist.
Survivors include three sons, Kevin Douglas of DeSoto, Kyle Derrick of Merriam, and Keith Devon of the home; one daughter, Kelly Denise Cusic of Topeka, and five grandchildren; two sisters, Georgia Lee Huggins of Mt. Vernon, Mo. and Katherine Kay Leonard of Columbus; and one brother Bernie Russell DuVall of Miami, Okla.
Visitation will be at Highland Park Chapel, Sunday December 28, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. and graveside services will be at noon on Monday December 29. Memorial contributions can be made to City Union Mission in Merriam. E-mail condolences can be made at www.highlandpark.com.
