TOPEKA - Kansas Treasurer Jake LaTurner is on his tour of Kansas’ 105 counties to promote many of the initiatives and services administered by the Treasurer’s Office. He has hosted events in 94 of the 105 Kansas counties, and he will be completing the tour on November 9th in Wichita. The Treasurer and his staff are providing free unclaimed property searches for Kansans in their home counties.

“From helping a working, single-mother claim thousands of dollars in inheritance to assisting a long-term living facility retrieve needed funds for reinvestment, it has been a pleasure returning million to Kansans in their hometowns” said LaTurner. “I am committed to continuing to return even more property to the people of our state.”

Since July 1 of this year, the Treasurer’s Office has returned over $8 million to Kansans, and Treasurer LaTurner and his staff are returning unclaimed property at a record pace. The remaining tour stops are: Chautauqua, Elk, Greenwood, Butler, Cowley, Sumner, Harper, Shawnee, Lyon, Chase, and Sedgwick counties. You can find a full list of event details at.

“Every Kansan should have the opportunity to experience the services of the Treasurer’s Office in their home county,” LaTurner said. “It’s important to realize that this is money belongs to Kansans, not the government, and it’s been extremely rewarding returning money to Kansans who can really use it. We will be back in all 105 counties, but in the meantime, we are just a phone call away or a Facebook message away.”
