Good Morning,

Thanks to the Christmas Celebration committee of David Carriger, Misty Harris, Amber Wheeler for the great job they did with the kick off of our Holiday Season. Thanks also to Natalie's Studio of Dance, Highland School and the Lions Club. Had a great parade, with lots of floats, made it difficult for the three judges. We appreciate it, as we know it takes time to put them together. Winners were: Religious - First Christian Church and First Baptist Church; Novelty - Medicalodge and Labette Bank. Drop by the office and pick up your prize.

Thanks also to the business who provided a wreath for the downtown poles, they ended up being higher than we thought, but they do look nice. Those helping out were: First Christian Church, Country Gardens, Maple UnComon Guest House, Cherokee County News Advocate, Parcom Verizon, Empire District Electric, Optic Communications, Commerce Bank, Crossland Construction, Subway, Mike Carpino Ford, Janet Graham Accounting, Farmers Co-op, Labette Bank and the Chamber. We have some very creative members.

4 State Printing has:

#1 2018 Desktop Calendars are in and they are still only $5 each. Limited quantity, when they’re gone they’re gone.

#2 Starting next week Dec. 4, my hours will be Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. I will be closed on Tuesday and Thursday. I can make appointments, but for the most part I will be out of the area on those days. I will still be available for weekends and after hours by appointment only.

#3 We are keeping UPS Service, but it will not be available on Tuesdays or Thursdays.

It is time for you to nominate a 2017 business of the year. The award will be presented at the Chamber annual dinner on Jan. 31, 2018. Send to the Chamber email nominating a Chamber member and tell why you believe they should receive the award. You can nominate your business - it can be a service, retail, or industry.

This week:

Wednesday, December 6 All School Reunion/150th City Celebration, noon

Saturday, December 9 Holiday Fair, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 4-H building. Lunch available at Girl Scout House.

Tuesday, December 12 Executive meeting, noon. All officers (2017 and 2018).

Wednesday, December 13 Board meeting, noon at Maple UnCommon Guest House. Members are encouraged to attend and give input. We do ask that you advise your attendance in order to have enough lunch on hand.

Don't forget to send in your calendar dates for 2018 for your large events. We need to have the dates by Dec. 21 in order to get to the printer and have the brochure ready to mail out by the first of January. This is the brochure that is stocked in all VIC's in Kansas, plus some in Missouri and Oklahoma. It not only had events, but also shows accommodations, shopping, restaurants with a three line of info, and location of your business on the map. This is a project of the retail committee and to cover printing, the cost of your listing is $40, non-members is $80. No fee for calendar. Advise the office if you want your business listed. The brochure is also sent out in all inquiries, we go through around 5,000 each year.

Have a good week,
