COLUMBUS - The Columbus City Council approved a measure Monday night to upgrade the City Hall complex's security system.
As head of the Property/Pool/Parks Committee, Councilman Ron Johnson presented the the recommendation to purchase electronic door locks for the City Hall complex during his committee report to the council. The recommendation, as quoted by TEC, is not to exceed $12,000, and will be paid out of the 2017 property budget.
Councilman Johnson also requested an additional $3,888 to include a keypad for the Fire Department. He said that this addition would be paid out of the city's property reserves fund.
The council approved the purchase 8-1, with Councilman Alvin Patterson voting no.
