Good Morning, do hope you all had a safe and Merry Christmas.
The 2018 Calendar of Events is at the printers, as soon as we receive them back, they will be sent out to all state VIC's and to some in Missouri and Oklahoma.
Mark your calendar. We have set up a cyber security/counterfeit workshop. It has been set for noon on Wednesday, Feb. 21, at the community building. This is being sponsored by our retail committee. We do ask that you advised if you and/or your employees will be attending.
I think we have about six tables still available for adoption for the annual dinner on Jan. 31 at the State Theatre Event Center. Theme for this year is "Through the Decades", in honor of the city of Columbus, celebrating their 150th Anniversary. Those that they have advised the wish to do a table are: Maple UnCommon Guest House, Coffeyville Community College, Medicalodge, Columbus Library, Empire District, Commerce Bank, Methodist Church, Mercy Hospital, Mercy Clinic, Columbus Telephone, RealPro, Babette Bank, Farmers Co-op, Parcom Verizon, Girl Scouts and State Theatre. If you would like to do one, advise the office. This is your chance to have some fun and to put your name on your table (you don't sit at your table), we do ask that you leave 10 table favors for those at your table.
You have until noon on Jan. 9, to nominate a Chamber members for "Business of the Year". There is not a formal application form, we ask that you send a letter advising why the business you are nominating deserves the title. What they have done during the year - community service, expansion, improvements,m etc.
We need some help with the Freshman Basketball Tournament, Jan. 15, 16, and 19. It will be held at both the CUHS and Central gym. We need someone to help with clock and books. This is one of our few fundraisers and it supplements the general budget. By doing a couple of large fundraisers, your membership fees can be kept low, compared to what other Chambers fees are.
Wednesday, January 3 All School Reunion/City Celebration committee, noon
Tuesday, January 9 Executive meeting, noon for officers
Wednesday, January 10 Board meeting, noon. Members are encouragead to attend, keep up to date on what your Chamber is doing and give input. We do ask that you advise in order to have enough lunch on hand.
Have a good week, and stay warm,
