Terry L. Walker, age 70 of Baxter Springs, passed away at his son’s home on Friday, February 9, 2018 surrounded by his family.

Terry was born in Parsons, Kan. on May 15, 1947 to the union of Roderick Lee Walker and Billie Maxine (Andrews) Walker. Terry served our country in the US Navy from February of 1968 to August of 1972.

He married Patty Jean Reed at Laverne’s in Miami, Okla. on July 19, 1979, and she preceded him in death on June 20, 2014.

Terry had worked in oil fields as a maintenance man, and also owned the Welch Lumber Yard which he operated with his wife, Patty. Always the handyman, you could often find him in his shop tinkering with anything he could find and working on tractors. He enjoyed frequenting local flea markets, going fishing, shooting guns, and spending time at the local VFW. He had lived in the Southeast Kansas area all of his life, settling in Baxter in August of 2015.

Terry is survived by his mother, Billie M. Walker; two sons, Jay Walker (wife, Fara) of Baxter Springs, Kan., and Tim Walker of Houston, Texas; three daughters, Devon Nading (husband, Wade) of Oswego, Kan., Gia Maloney of Madison, Miss., and Paula Littlejohn of Vinita, Okla.; one sister, Barbara Cook (husband, David) of Coffeyville, Kan.; five grandchildren, Tori, Jaleigh, Caden, Corven, and Peyton and one great-grandchild, Teagan Jo.

A memorial service will be held at Derfelts Baxter Chapel at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, February 13, 2018. Honorary Pallbearers will be John Reed, Kenny Reed, Mike Weaver, Keith Atkin, and Ronnie Arnold.
