COWTOWN HOEDOWN AND MORE!, COWTOWN SPRING FLING AND COUNTRY SING, with Bobby D, who will be bringing and singing the best 80's and 90's country and rock hits at the Johnston Public Library in Baxter Springs. Bobby's gonna put the cool back in Rockabilly!

Beginning at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 4. Bring your own boots and lawn chair right along with a healthy appetite. Free! Free! Free hot dogs, chips, and a drink! Yummy! I love me some hotdogs and if they are free, they are for me! I'm gonna request a country gospel song.

May 5, there will be live music all day long. BBQ Smoke Off Competition, smoked meats and fixins will be available at 11:30 a.m. Smokers will compete and be judged for bragging rights for the best Cowtown area BBQ! $1,000 in prize money! Fixins is a broad and wide term, you know there's gonna be some barbecue beans, cole slaw and tater salad right along with some sliced onion and tomatoes. Hey I'm just a dreaming, don't get mad at me or them, they just saying fixins, I'm just saying and dreaming. I want some sweet tea and grandmother's chocolate pie also, let me alone in my dream.

Arts and crafts show from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., hometown, homemade crafts, vendors, food and a bounce house to bounce it all off in. Some will be crafting on-site!

The classic car show will be held at the Johnston Public Library beginning at 11 a.m. Check-in at 10 a.m. There will be a $10 entry fee per car. Judging will begin at 2 p.m. and prizes will be announced at 4:30 p.m. The car show is absolutely free to spectators. I just attended a car show in Punta Gorda, Florida. These shows are great and every car has a story. Saturday is gonna be a bonanza of a day, family fun and friendly.

I'm writing in part to make sure our history is not lost. One of my former editors told me, "Duane I do declare you could write the phone book," we'll he was being overly kind but I use my talent on loan from on high down here below. Note: (former editor) I don't declare to be know Shakespeare but he's no longer here, Lyon does rhyme with Einstein and Duane with Mark Twain, we'll yes I am a poet too! Check out my just posted love poem on Duane Lyon Holley Abigale Springs. Warm regards!
