RIVERTON - The Lady Rams of Riverton are now 5-6 with a tough loss to Independence 11-10, and a 2-0 shut out loss to Purdy, Missouri. They defeated Pittsburg in a six inning run-ruled game 18-8.

In Independence, sisters Camryn and Jamee Compton put the Lady Rams with a two run start in the first inning with back-to-back homeruns. The Lady Bulldogs came back in their bottom half with a run after a single, and a stolen second base by the lead off batter. The batter was sacrificed in.

In the second inning Aspyn Girard singled, but was forced at second on Zoey Mitchell’s fielders choice. Mitchell advanced on Makayla Lee’s bunt. Mitchell and M. Lee added two runs on C. Compton’s 2-RBI base hit. Independence went to two runs after a solo homerun.

With two outs in the third, Mitchell reached first on a shortstop error, and M. Lee walked. A triple by the Lady Rams catcher/lead off batter Morgan McDonald plated the two runners. McDonald added the third run on a left-field error. The Lady Bulldogs added a third run after a base hit, a shortstop error, and a stolen base at third. The runner then scored on a left-field error.

In the fourth J. Compton and Kenzie Lee walked with no outs, but was stranded. Down 7-3 the Lady Bulldogs went up 9-7 after scoring six in the fourth. The runs were scored on a walk, a double, followed by a single. Riverton then had two errors, and allowed another double.

Riverton went 1-2-3 in the top half of the fifth inning. Independence added their 11th run after a base on balls, and a 2-RBI homerun. Riverton came back with two runs in the top of the sixth. C. Compton got on with a lead off walk, and J. Compton was intentionally walked. The Comptons advanced a base on K. Lee’s single, then scored on Kenzie Houser’s double. Girard walked to load the bases. K. Lee and Houser were both put out at home on fielder choices with Mitchell and M. Lee batting. Again, with the base loaded all three runners were stranded.

Independence couldn’t add a run in the sixth after a base hit, but led 11-9 to go into the seventh inning. Riverton could only muster one score on C. Compton’s second solo home run of the game.

Jaden Phillips took the loss pitching 4 and 2/3 innings giving up 10 hits, and recording one strikeout. Cheyenne Turner threw the final 1 and 2/3 innings, allowing one hit.


In the shutout at Riverton, the Lady Rams struck out 14 times, and managed only five hits. C. Compton and Mitchell each had a double, and a single. McDonald had a base hit. Turner, with no offense behind her, pitched the seven innings giving up seven hits, walking four, and striking out three.


In the Pittsburg game, also in Riverton, the Lady Purple Dragons started with two runs after a single, a walk, and a 2-RBI double. McDonald added the Lady Rams run in the first inning after a dropped third strike, and her theft of second base. C. Compton on a sacrifice fly to leftfield scored McDonald.

Pittsburg added two runs in the second inning. Riverton took the lead 5-4 in their bottom half. Houser led off with a walk, stole second, and later scored on a pass ball. Mitchell walked, and went to second on M. Lee’s base hit. Mitchell and K. Lee went to second and third when McDonald was hit by a pitch. Mitchell scored on Strup’s single, and K. Lee scored on a centerfield sacrifice fly by C. Compton.

Riverton went up 12-4 after scoring seven runs in the fourth after 11 Lady Rams went to the plate. In the inning Girard, M. Lee, and Strup had singles, K. Lee and Mitchell were hit by pitches, Houser reached on a shortstop error, and C. Compton walked.

The Lady Purple Dragons added three runs in the fourth inning on two errors, a walk, and a double. They added one more run in the sixth when the lead off batter was hit by a pitch, and two base hits. The Lady Rams batted 10 and added six runs in the sixth for the 10 run rule. In the inning they had singles by Daphnii Parker, M. Lee, McDonald, J. Compton, and Houser.

Phillips got the win pitching the six innings giving up nine hits, walking six, and striking out three.
