On May 2, 2018, Casey Nicole Maxton, 23, of Baxter Springs, Kan. went to live with the most important person in her life, Jesus Christ.

Casey blazed into this world June 9, 1994 as the self proclaimed star of her family. She quite possibly was the most stubborn little girl who thought she could best her Mimi. She loved to perform on any stage and would sing anything for you from Cardi B to her favorite Old Fashioned Hymns. Casey would tell you she was headed for Hollywood until she became sick in high school. Before her illness Casey enjoyed cheering, dance, volleyball, singing and theatre at Baxter Springs High School. Casey attended Missouri Southern State University as long as she was able. She recently focused on music, deejaying and singing. Casey loved her special trips with her Momma to Hawaii, Nascar Races and the Royals. She was an awesome aunt and cherished her family. Casey has many friends all over the world and enjoyed sharing her music, writings and wit over the internet.

Casey joins her Daddy - Ronald Maxton, Mimi - Frankie Derfelt, Great Grandparents Bernadell Flanders and Roy & Virginia Derfelt in Heaven.

She is survived by her Mother & Teammate, Michelle Maxton of the home; sister, Amanda Maxton; Nieces & Nephews - Adalyn, Lexy and Randall; Grandparents, John & Imogene Derfelt of Webb City, Mo. along with many loving aunts (but we know who her favorite is), uncles, cousins and friends.

Services will be held Sunday, May 6, 2018 at 2:30 p.m. at Derfelt’s Baxter Chapel. A private Interment will be held at a later time at Baxter Cemetery. Rev. Tyler Whipkey will officiate, Eulogy presented by Stef Loveland and brother Scott Gober will assist. John Derfelt, Brad Hall, Jackie Derfelt, Buddy Derfelt, Glove Weeks, John Tyler Derfelt, Jacob Qualls and Connor Weeks will serve as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers are Chirute Catalin, George Zahariudakis, Tasha Wampler, Patricia Evans, “Mama Mendi” Melinda Von Wedell and Aubrey Johnson. The family has established a scholarship fund in Casey’s honor to support students with special challenges who want to attend college. The last thing Casey wanted in this life was to lead a friend to Jesus and she would be best honored by knowing that you know him too.
