The Cherokee County Fair is fast approaching, July 24-28. We are again working with the Cherokee County Fair Association in providing support for the fair and with advance sales of carnival armbands. Armbands are now available at City Hall, Commerce Bank, American Bank in Columbus, Baxter, and Galena, Farm Bureau Insurance and the Chamber office. Advance armbands are $20 per person for one night from 6 to 11 p.m., Tuesday - Saturday. They will be much higher during fair week. They will not be available for advance purchase after July 23.
Thanks you to Mike Evans, chairman of the 4th of July Celebration, it was great! Lots of residents and visitors attended. Also to the Miss Columbus candidates who we kept busy for the day, the fire department and to city workers, plus our sponsors of Empire District, Kiss Tech, Commerce Bank and Labette Bank who helped with games and prizes. Farm Bureau Insurance did a great job with the 5K run with 30 runners and opening ceremony. It was a great day to celebrate our country and our community.
Wednesday July 11 Board meeting, noon at community building with Apple Market catering. Remember, we encourage our members to attend and give input - this is your Chamber. We do ask that if not an official board member that you advise your attendance in order to have enough lunch on hand.

Saturday July 14 Meal Prep 101, sponsored by Columbus Public Library, beginning at 10 a.m. at St Rose Parrish Hall. Register with Lauren at Library.

Thursday, July 19 3rd Thursday Coffee at Melodicalodge from 8 to 9 am. Drawing will be held for $25 Columbus Gift Certificates. They have lots of new to show off. The attendance has been good so let's continue to make it grow - it gives you a chance to network, catch up on what is going on around town.
Friday, July 20-22 Farm Show. The KSU Extension Service will have a booth at the Farm Show and will also be passing out flyers to vendors about our own Ag EXPO to be held Sept. 20. The agriculture committee is working hard on this. One of the sessions that will be of interest to everyone is on how some tick bites to persons can make you allergic to red meat. There will be three workshops during the day of the EXPO. If you are interested in booking space, contact the Chamber office. There is indoor and outside space available.
Columbus Day brochures are done and will be getting them out to VIC's this week. Since I am still on crutches and don't move very fast, if you need some in your business drop by the office and pick some up. Thanks.
In this month's Show Me the Ozark magazine there is a piece on the 150th Celebration with pictures, and on Mike Carpino Ford. If you would like a copy, we have several here in the office.
Have a good week,
