GILBERT — People are asked to be on the lookout for anyone tampering with vehicles in the city.
Three vehicles were “keyed’’ over the past weekend, said Police Chief Mark Skelton. Vandals scrape keys along the side of the vehicle. “When you key the side of a 2006 GMC, that’s thousands of dollars of damage,’’ Skelton said.
There have been other reports of such vandalism over the summer at
the campground and on Summit Street. “Be vigilant,’’ Skelton said. “If
you see or hear anybody out late at night, call 911.’’ Anyone with information on the perpetrators can also call the Gilbert Police Department at 748-2225.
Residents are reminded to park their vehicles in their garages or in their yards rather than on the street if possible, Skelton said.
