The Columbus City Council met Nov. 1 and accepted the resignation of City Manager Evan Capron.
Councilman John Paradee moved to accept the resignation of City Administrator Evan Capron as written as of December 31, 2010. Morrison seconded the motion.
City Superintendent Jim Burton reported Well No. 4 has been pulled and he should know something by today.
He said a grant was approved for a handicap fishing dock and the parking space at the VFW Park and this should be done by next June. The only matching fund on this was in kind. He said he has information on new fuel cards and will bring this to a committee.
He also reported the heater is down at the Columbus Community Building and he will get repair estimates and will bring it back to committee.
Councilwoman Connie Bennett moved to purchase a hose tester from Casco Industries not to exceed $2,300. Motion carried: 10-0.
Bennett also moved to trade in No. 29 grass truck for equipment for hydraulic reel hose for the Jaws of Life with 1st Due Emergency Response Solutions LLC. Grant Spieth seconded the motion. Motion carried: 10-0.
Dana Wellmeier moved to have City continue mowing cemeteries for the 2011 season. Jerri Burton seconded the motion. Motion carried: 10-0.

Paradee moved to give Russell Zwahlen, Nate Long, Steven P. Burton and Janice Blancett annual step increases.
