Sixth grade student, Sophie Jones, celebrated Martin Luther King Jr. Day in a special way this year.

Sophie gave presentations to four 6th grade classes and three 7th grade classes over a three day period.

Sophie also gave presentations to three 8th grade classes on Dr.King’s work during the Fall semester.

Sophie began studying Dr. King’s work and The Civil Rights Movement at a very young age and has given presentations on Dr. King for several years.

She has been acknowledged by numerous members of Dr. King’s family and also President Barack Obama for her work in carrying on Dr. King’s legacy and message of non violent social change.

Sophie provided literature, bookmarks and pencils from The King Center of Atlanta, Georgia.

Numerous teachers, her mother Lisa Jones and Principal Jason Walker were also in attendance.

Sophie is the daughter of Lisa and Gerald Jones.
