Thelma M. Soper, 96, of Columbus, died Friday, September 25, 2009 at St. Johnís Regional Medical Center in Joplin after a very brief illness.
Thelma was born May 17, 1913 in Cherokee County, the daughter of Seymore and Della (Oltmanns) McFarling.
She married Glen A. Soper and the couple made their home in Columbus. She was a member of the First Christian Church. Thelma enjoyed bowling and reading.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a son Maurice; a grandson, Darin; a sister, Nellie Fee and two brothers, Fred and Ivan McFarling.
She is survived by a son, Jack D. Soper of Columbus; a daughter, Geneva Grubbs of Columbus; four granddaughters, Debbie Shutt of Derby, Deana Randall of Columus, DeeDee Soper of Columbus, Amy Soper of Columbus; three grandsons, Dave Soper of Columbus, DeWayne Soper of Columbus and Troy Soper;† fourteen great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Murdock Funeral Home Chapel with Pastorsí Roger Beason and Jeff Wary both of the First Christian Church officiating. Interment will follow in Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Murdock Funeral Home, 132 E. Pine, Columbus, KS, 66725.
