Cloyed E. Hilderbrand 92, of Columbus, Kan. passed away 1 p.m. Friday March 18, 2011 at the St. Johnís Maude Norton Hospital in Columbus, Kan. after a long illness.

He was born to William (Bill) and Mary Hilderbrand at Turner, Mo. and when a small child moved to the Faulkner and Chetopa community, he attended school at the Pleasant Valley and Chetopa school system. Cloyed was a graduate of the Chetopa High School in 1936.

On August 24, 1940 he and Nadine Turner were united in marriage at the Columbus Christian Parsonage by Rev. A.L. Johnson. Later he and his wife moved to a farm south of Faulkner where they lived until retiring. Cloyed and Nadine moved to Chetopa for six years then later moved to Columbus where they spent their remaining years. He loved to farm, enjoyed his cattle, picking pecans, and especially bowling and spending time with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Joyce Wilcox and husband Fred; two brothers, Sunny and Lawrence Hilderbrand.

Those surviving are his wife of 70 years and one granddaughter, Leigh Ann McWilliams and husband James of Columbus, Kan.

Graveside Services will be 11 a.m. Monday March 21, 2011 at the Park Cemetery in Columbus, Kan. with Rev. Jeff Wary and Roger Beason officiating.
