Troy Lee Hallam, also known as “Hap” and “Grizz,” age 45, 538 W Elm St, was pronounced dead Friday evening, July 22, 2011 at St John’s Maude Norton Hospital, Columbus, Kan. after a sudden illness.
Troy was born January 1, 1966 at Columbus, Kan. His parents were Henry Lee Hallam Jr and Linda Irene (Thiolet) Hallam. He had lived in the Columbus area all of his life.
He worked for five years at the Columbus Tire Company after working with Bob Roark for 15 years in construction. He was a member of Duck’s Unlimited, National Rifle Assn., Sportsman’s Association, and B.A.S.S. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, and any outdoor activity including Arrowhead collecting.
Surviving is one son, Jimmy’s Hallam, Columbus, Kan. and mother, Lisa Reed, Chetopa, Kan.; stepson, Nathan Prose, of Houston, Texas; step brother and sister Chris and Melissa Crites, Miami, Okla..; his father, Junior Hallam (wife, Beverly), Grove, Okla.; his mother, Linda Harrigan (husband, Hugh), Joplin, Mo.; grandmother, Margaret Thiolet, Joplin, Mo.; one brother, Chad Hallam, Columbus, Kan.; nieces and nephews include Brett Wade Hallam he treated as a son, Jessica Renee Herd, Justin Dale Herd, Heather Nicole Herd, and Chase Colby Mead.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at Derfelt Funeral Home, Columbus, KS. Todd Murdock will officiate. Burial will be in Park Cemetery, Columbus, KS.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at Derfelt Funeral Home, Columbus, KS.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Jimmy Lee Hallam fund in care of the funeral home.
