Though the Titans lost by 22 points they were in the game until the final few minutes because of good defense. The tight defense put Columbus in foul trouble early which cost them scoring late.

The 58-46 Independence win, ended the Titan regular season with a 3-17 record, an improvement over last year but, a long way from successful.

“We had key players in foul trouble all night and at the end they were out of the game,” said Titan Head Coach Kevin Brown. “We had no semblance of a rotation and were not able to run our press because of the fouls.

Independence went to the foul line 33 times hitting 24 free throws. Columbus went 11-17 at the line.

“We missed a lot of open shots,” said Brown.

Matt Crain led the Titans in scoring with 22 points, Jaden Tedlock scored 13 and Todd Lucian added five.

The Titans will play Girard in the state tournament on Monday night.
